3 Reasons You Must Not Give Your ATM Card to Anybody

Before now it was not a big deal to give your ATM card to Anybody or throw it around in the sitting provided you alone know the PIN. But with the emergence and spread of e-Commerce and other online transactions keeping your debit card carelessly is now a risk you shouldn't dare to TAKE. Even without revealing your PIN somebody can use your card to pay his/her bills. So how is this possible?

First, on some e-Commerce websites (I don't want to call names) someone can use your card to make payments. This is because these websites only require your card number (the numbers on the front of your card), your CCV (the 3 digits at the back of your card), the card expiry date, etc. All these details are obtainable from your card and no PIN is required.

Secondly, we recently discussed How to Recharge Your Phone Via SMS With GT Bank. If you carefully look at that post you will notice that the only thing required to purchase airtime from Gt BANK via SMS is just the last 4 digits on your card. That means I can copy the number on your card and recharge my phone with any amount at anytime while you pay for being careless.

Thirdly, using GTB Mastercard money can also be transferred from one account to another via SMS just like the way you buy airtime via SMS (we will discuss the steps in subsequent posts).

So is your card safe? If you have been careless before now please repent!
