POST NYSC LIFE

National youth service corps is a mandatory one year exercise for all graduates all over Nigeria. Which start with a 3 weeks orientation camp after which every corps member will be posted to different places of primary assignment where they will need to contribute towards the development of their host communities. Then the winding-up or passing out at the end of the service year (usually at the 12th month).

After the passing out parade here comes life after Nysc which I called post Nysc (National youth service corps). A life that will open up challenges or wound and proffer healing to them said by Engineer Yemi. A life in which graduates will add to about 75 million youth looking for jobs in the country.
The question on most graduates mind after Nysc will be ‘‘what next after Nysc?”. This was the same question directed to some batch A 2012 corps members serving in owan east local government area of Edo state in December 2012 by an engineer. Different answers were received from this question.
He said, Life after service is full of anger, regret, loneliness, dejection despair and so on. He said only graduates who can overcome these will enjoy peace, joy, happiness, productivity and so on which are the fruits of patience, dedication, faith, and tolerance. He said, life after service starts the day discharge certificate has been given. It is the day graduates will come in touch with the reality of adulthood and the and of federal allowance (Allawi) and payment from places of primary assignment. He said, it will be the day you will have to take the greatest decision of your life.
Engineer Yemi said, the very day you receive your discharge certificate you automatically add to the population of unemployed employable and unemployable Nigerians. You automatically become a man or woman of your own. He further and said life after service is a time where you will look at your parents and cannot ask them questions, it is the time much is required from you at home. It will be a period of time where loneliness will turn you into something else, but only the disciplined will save their lives and keep believing God for His kindness. All these things were some of the things most of those we passed out together were experiencing now. Many were yet to secure a job to manage in this country called Nigeria. what we need is prayer and to take a step by no relying too much on our government to provide jobs for us we should take up the challenge and do something.
In conclusion, congratulations to  all the batch B corps members but  my best advice is that whatever job you find after service grap it and continue looking for job or make a job and focus not totally on looking out for one. Learn how to spot out opportunities and be self-sufficient as you go hunting for job or gain valuable skills and become an entrepreneur reducing unemployment rate in Nigeria. Try and build-up your skills during service year and send applications to many companies during service year. Above all be very close to God.
Once again congratulations.
